My Cover:

Blood and Chocolate Cover

Vivian Gandillon relishes the change, the sweet, fierce ache that carries her from girl to wolf. At sixteen, she is beautiful and strong, and all the young wolves are on her tail. But Vivian still grieves for her dead father; her pack remains leaderless and in disarray, and she feels lost in the suburbs of Maryland. She longs for a normal life. But what is normal for a werewolf?

Then Vivian falls in love with a human, a meat-boy. Aiden is kind and gentle, a welcome relief from the squabbling pack. He’s fascinated by magic, and Vivian longs to reveal herself to him. Surely he would understand her and delight in the wonder of her dual nature, not fear her as an ordinary human would.

Vivian’s divided loyalties are strained further when a brutal murder threatens to expose the pack. Moving between two worlds, she does not seem to belong in either. What is she really—human or beast? Which tastes sweeter—blood or chocolate?

Why I’m Crushing:

So this is an older cover, but I still love it.  There is a lot of detail for this cover and I enjoy the color scheme for it.  The book is obviously about werewolves, which you could tell even if you didn’t read the synopsis.  There are the moon phases at the top of the cover and I really like the way the branches are in her hair.  Plus, the wolf shadow is really awesome.  The girl is very pretty, but she also has the ugly claws, which is a nice contrast with the beauty considering the kind of creature she is.  This cover is very eye catching, and it succeeds to draw my attention any time I pass it.  What do you guys think of this cover?  If you have one of your own, feel free to link and share in the comments :-)

  1. This is one of my favourite books of all time! Have you read it?
This isn’t actually the cover of the Blood and Chocolate that I own, which is pretty in it’s own way (see here: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/910676.Blood_and_Chocolate). But I would love to own this cover, as well. I think it really suits the story that is inside it. Actually, I feel like a reread now. I haven’t reread this novel in so long, and I love it every time that I do :D

  2. I love this cover. I really wish I had purchased this the first time I saw it because so many people adore this book.

  3. Sad to say, I’ve never read the book but I have seen the movie >> Is the book (as most are) better than the movie?

Also, here’s my post a day late: http://thebignerdofthree.wordpress.com/2014/01/05/cover-crush-harry-potter-15th-anniversary-edition/

    • To be honest, I don’t remember. I have seen the movie far more recently than reading the book, and it has been so long, that I truly can’t remember reading it! So I think I may read (or reread?) it this year, then I can compare. I have a horrible memory, and it would have been over a decade ago… Once I do read it (again?) I will definitely let you know what I think :-)

      • haha I know what you mean about horrible memory. I barely remember anything about the books I read when I was younger except if I liked it or not (Harry Potter aside).

  4. Have you read/seen The Silver Kiss by the same author? The cover is pretty similar.
