Charlotte’s best friend thinks Charlotte might be psychic.  Her boyfriend thinks she’s cheating on him.  But Charlotte knows what’s really wrong: She is one of the Forgotten, a kind of angel on earth who feels the Need—a powerful, uncontrollable draw to help someone, usually a stranger.
But Charlotte never wanted this responsibility.  What she wants is to help her best friend, whose life is spiraling out of control.  She wants to lie in her boyfriend’s arms forever.  But as the Need grows stronger, it begins to take a dangerous toll on Charlotte.  And who she was, is, and will become—her mark on this earth, her very existence—is in jeopardy of disappearing completely.
Charlotte will be forced to choose: Should she embrace her fate as a Forgotten, a fate that promises to rip her from the lives of those she loves forever?  Or is she willing to fight against her destiny—no matter how dark the consequences?

Charlotte has a great life with people who love her, but the Need comes at very inconvenient times and she has no way to explain it to her loved ones.  It gets harder to deal with since the frequency of the Need increases, and becomes more painful.  Being a Forgotten is not something Charlotte wants, or knows how to handle.  She tries to fight off the pain of her Needs and attempts to find a way to stop it.
This story wasn’t exactly what I expected, though I’m not really sure exactly what it was I did expect.  There wasn’t really any action in it, but it still read pretty quickly.  There was a lot of repetition that I could have done without.  The power in the book though was still strong.  I could feel Charlotte’s overwhelming desire to fight against being a Forgotten and I was very heartbroken for her for what she was going through.
I liked the cover; it seemed very angelic to me since the girl had a heavenly glow to her.  I also liked the couple of fancy letters in the title that gave it a bit of elegance.  The characters were written very well, and I really liked Harlin, who was willing to fight hard for what he wanted.
There are many books with their own spin on angels, but this one is different from others I have read and it takes on a unique plot.  It has a cliffhanger ending so beware!  But I do look forward to the next book titled A Want so Wicked, which is an awesome title.  Though it wasn’t a super fantastic read for me, it was still enjoyable.

Heartbreaking, strong characters, mysterious, not much action.

  1. I always thought that the “need” was sex, now I know better. Thanks for your review, it really does sound unique~ would you buy the sequel?

    • I definitely will be getting the sequel, especially since it’s a cliffhanger ending I just HAVE to know what happens! I can’t just be left like that, haha.

  2. I’ve seen this one, heard about it, but this is the first review I read on it. Sounds like a good read. I’m not sure about no action though. I do like you said it was a quick read. Those are always nice. Cliffhanger endings are the bane of my book reading, maybe I might wait until closer to the sequel release date?
