TGIF (4)

TGIF at GReads is a weekly meme hosted by Ginger at GReadsand it re-caps her posts during the week and asks a bookish question.

This weeks question is:

Choose Your Next Read: How do you go about choosing what you read next? Do you have a schedule you follow, or do you read whatever makes you happy at the moment?

I have thought about trying to make a schedule for the books I will be reading, but honestly, I know I wouldn’t follow it, so it would be pointless.  Sometimes I chose my next book based on my mood.  If I have had a rough week, maybe I want something light and funny; if I am in a romantic mood, perhaps a contemporary; maybe I just need to escape from reality all together and go for a fantasy.  It mainly depends on how I feel at that point in time.

Pimp Your Review: Feature a favorite book review you’ve written in the past that you feel deserves more love!

I think my favorite book review I have done so far is for Tabitha Suzuma’s Forbidden. I was so moved by the book that I think it made me write a better review.  Find it here!

This weeks question is:

Unexpected Books: Which books did you have reservations about reading, but ended up loving once you did?

White Cat was an unexpected like for me because it is a book I normally wouldn’t pick up.  I have never read a crime family type of book and never had much of an urge to.  I am glad I picked it up though because I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would! This is one I am glad the bloggers convinced me to read.

I watched the movie for Perfume before I ever read it.  I didn’t even know that it was a book first until I stumbled upon it by accident.  I really did not like the movie very much and wasn’t expecting to like the book much either, but the book was actually really good.  It was very well written and made more sense than the movie did.  Though the movie was slow, the book read a lot faster.

Anna and the French Kiss is another that I have to thank bloggers for.  I don’t think I ever saw one bad review for this book, and the only reason it took me so long to read it was because I generally don’t read contemporary, but I must say, Anna definitely turned me on to it.  I would be so mad at myself if I had passed up reading this one.

Chime I had picked up and put down a couple of times.  The cover is what caught me, and when I read the back I wasn’t sure about it, so I kept putting it down.  I had read The Near Witch a little while back and really enjoyed it, so when I was in the mood for a witchy story, I finally picked up Chime on audio and it was amazing!

 This weeks question is:

Book Olympics: In the spirit of the Olympics, which books would you give the gold, silver, and bronze medals to? It can be from any genre, new or old.

This is a fun question for my first participation for TGIF, and a tough one, too. There are so many I could put up!  There’s no possible way to do only three for all the books that I’ve read, so I chose three from three genres 🙂

Dystopian:

Gold

Silver

Bronze

Contemporary:

Gold

Silver

Bronze

Fantasy:

Gold

Silver

Bronze
