Top Ten Tuesday Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted at The Broke and The Bookish.  Each week a new top ten list is posted, and to participate all you have to do is fill in YOUR top ten for the list.

This week the topic is:

Top Ten Blogging/Reading Resolutions

1. Read more: I didn’t get to read a whole lot this past year, but I do want to read more this year.  I am only setting my goal for fifty, which for you super readers out there is a teensy amount, but I am hoping that maybe I can get more in than that.  Life just gets in the way of reading!  XD

2. Improvements on the blog:  I want to make more improvements on my blog and I was even debating on self hosting.  I want more meaningful content and I want my blog to be a favorite for the bloggers who follow me.

3. Stop (or at least lessen) procrastination: I am horrible about procrastination!  I mean really, really bad.  I am behind putting my reviews on other sites and such because of it.  My office is a disaster because of it, and half my house is still not unpacked yet even though I have been there a year and a half because of it.  So I need to jump on the ball with getting posts done in advance so I don’t have to worry about it anymore.

4. Comment more: I love getting comments, and I know other bloggers love receiving them, so I need to show more love to the bloggers out there.  My biggest difficulty with this is that I work during peak commenting times and when I get home, it is hard to want to do anything else other than be lazy after a long day at work.

5. Learn more: I have been blogging here now for 2.5 years and I do not know anywhere near as much as I probably should for someone who has been doing it for this long.  I see some of these blogs and I want to know how to do things I see on others’ pages.  It is pretty funny when I do figure out how to do something because it is such a huge accomplishment for me and I feel so proud of myself, even though it is probably something small for others.

6. Notebooks: For a while I was doing good at keeping up with a notebook for jotting notes about the books I was reading, then it got misplaced, and I haven’t worked with it since it was misplaced.  Since I finally found it again I would like to start putting notes, including quotes because I need to get better with noting quotes, into the notebook again.  I also need to improve my note taking skills, because I noticed when I first started the notebook, I wanted to write down notes on every little thing, which I have no time for.  So I need to be more efficient in my note taking.

7. Plan ahead: I am horrible about trying to write my posts the day before or the morning of when said post is supposed to be up.  I really need to work on scheduling my posts ahead and planning my posts ahead.  This would also help my procrastination issues.

8. Review requests: I hate having to turn down so many writers when it comes to review requests, but I just don’t have the time to take on too many currently.  If my partnering works out, then I will have a second pair of eyes I could share the load with and get to take in more requests.  So I am hoping I will be able to do that this year.

9. Challenges: I want to actually complete all my challenges I pick this year.  My first year of challenges I did well and met all of them, this past year however, I crashed and burned.  So, I want to make sure I complete them this time!

10. Organization: Also links in with planning ahead.  I will do good on my organization for a week, then something happens (usually procrastination) and I fall behind on the organization.  I have a day planner where I try to plan out my posts and go ahead and write down which covers I want for Cover Crush, what choices for my TTT and WoW posts, etc, but…well, like my notebook, it was misplaced (I am good at losing things thanks to a horrible memory).  I have a dedicated tote that I need to repack with my blogger and writing stuff again and make sure I keep it with me.  When we moved my boyfriend in, my tote was moved and I just recently uncovered it (he likes to move my things and doesn’t remember what he does with them).  I also want to get my desk organized so I have an actual place to work.  I love my desk, it’s a beautiful roll top 🙂 and I want to actually do my writing at it.

Also I found this great New Year Blogging Resolution Survey from Chiara over at Books for a Delicate Eternity that I want to do since it involves resolutions as well!

New Year Resolutions

Reading

I will read more books (in a genre, for review, for yourself etc):

I read lots of books for myself, but I am going to try to get more in that are requests or ones that I have requested.  I feel really bad that I am not able to do but a very small select few that I get requests from, so I would like to do better on that.

I will try reading (a certain genre, a certain book, a series etc):

Maybe a little more sci-fi.  I’m not big on reading sci-fi, but there are a lot of books that people go on about in this genre that I would like to check out.  Mostly I read contemporary and paranormal/fantasy.

I will finish (a book, a series etc):

My challenges.  I massively failed on that aspect this past year, and I don’t want to do it again this year.

I will start (you get the gist, yeah?):

Both Cassanda Clare series!  I feel like such a dweeb for not having read them yet, and I don’t want to be left out of the loop anymore!

I will not read:

Anything that doesn’t get my interest.  I read for myself and let others know how I feel about the books and my opinions on what I read, but I am not going to force myself to read something I don’t actually want to.  If I do that, then it won’t be as enjoyable.

I will read:

Whatever I am in the mood to read.  I am definitely a mood reader, which is why I can’t schedule out books like some bloggers can because next week I might want to read a thriller or something that will make me cry.  I don’t know until it is time to pick my next book.

Posting

I will try to post:

As often as possible, which will differ depending on how my schedule is.

I will post more:

Discussions.  I like discussion posts and seeing people’s opinions, but I have a hard time thinking of stuff to talk about, honestly, so I haven’t done many.

I will post fewer:

I am a blogger.  Posting fewer of something isn’t in the rules for me.  I don’t post a lot of meaningless garble (at least I hope I don’t) and I enjoy everything that I post, all reviews, all memes, etc.

If I do not post:

I am probably utterly swamped, but I will post again as soon as I can.  If I know I won’t post for a little while because something has come up, then I will announce it.  Work and family come first, so I have to tend to those before I can do my blog stuff.

Visiting

I will visit blogs:

As often as I can.  I love seeing everybody’s blogs and reading their posts and discussing things with the wonderful bloggers out there.

I will comment on more:

Reviews and discussions.  I love reading both of these kinds of posts and I would like to be more involved in them and debating opinions with people.

I will comment on fewer:

Fewer comments? No way!  I love comments and I know other bloggers do, too, so why would I want to do it less?

I will return the comment favour as much as I can:

Of course! I love getting comments and I know others do as well, so why not?

I will try and visit and comment on  ____ blogs:

All of them.  I know that is pretty impossible because I follow so many, but I will try my darndest.  I do have favorites that I comment on pretty often, but I also need to share the love with the others I follow, too.

I will not post comments that are:

Pointless.  I want my comments to actually have a purpose and be meaningful with what the post says.  I know I’ve received comments before that make me look at the screen weird, quirk and eyebrow and think “okay? and the point is??” and I don’t want people to think that of my comments.

I will post comments that are:

The exact opposite of the above.  I want to have meaningful comments.  Comments that make people nod there head in agreement at the screen, or comment back because it is worth answering, or high five me on my soap box moments.

So, there you have it!  My New Year’s Resolutions for my blogging.  What kind of resolutions have you guys made?

Top Ten Books on My Winter TBR

1. Angelfall by Susan Ee – I’ve seen this one all over blogs and I don’t think I have ever read anything bad about it, so I must finally read it.

2, 3, 4. Divergent, Insurgent and Allegiant by Veronica Roth –  I just bought the trilogy box set and I can’t wait to start it.  I hear so much great stuff about it and I really want to see what the hype is all about.  I also can’t wait for the movie.  It looks so good!

5. If He Had Been With Me by Lauren Nowlin – I have been wanting to read this one since I first read the synopsis.  It sounds so heartbreaking and emotional and I love emotional books, even if they do break my heart.  I just picked it up this past week, so I am pretty excited about it.

6. Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay – Another that I have to read based on all the reviews I have seen.  A hard copy of this was finally available, so I bought it a couple of weeks ago.

7. Enders by Lissa Price – I enjoyed Starters so much more than I thought I was going to, and I feel as if I have had to wait years for the sequel.

8. Angel Fever by L.A. Weatherly – I read the first two almost back to back and I felt like I had to wait forever for this one like waiting for Enders, so I will be happy to be able to finish!

9. Infinite by Jodi Meadows – One of my favorite series!  I love these books and can’t wait to find out how it wraps up.  I love the writing and the stories and the scenes and everything.

10. Cress by Marissa Meyer – Another top favorite!  This is by far one of my absolute favorite series of all time.  It is up there with Harry Potter I love it so much.  All the characters are great and the writing is awesome and the books don’t feel like they are as long as they actually are, so you fly through them.  I can’t wait to read this new installment.

Well, this is the ones I plan to read, as of right now.  It seems I never actually stick to my TBR lists I make out.  I generally read with my mood or what kind of book I am craving, so we will see how well I stick to this one.  What is on your TBR for the Winter season?

This week the topic is:

Top Ten Things I’m Thankful For

Bookish:

1.  Books! – This is a given.  I love books and I am working my way towards my own personal library.  Books are pretty magical and a great escape when you don’t want to be in “real life” and they help you bond with people and bloggers, who are some of the most awesome people out there!

2.  The Library – I have been pretty broke this year, having just bought a house and having to do some repairs can really put a tight squeeze on your wallet, so the library really helps out when I can’t actually buy the books I want to.  Plus, if I didn’t like the book, I didn’t have to waste money on a book I didn’t enjoy.

3. The Blogger Community – These people are super awesome and I trust and enjoy their opinions.  Its great getting to know them and reading their posts and discussing books we all enjoy.  I have never met a rude blogger yet and even though I may never get to meet them in real life I consider them friends 🙂

4. Authors – These people are super amazing!  The stories they create are incredible and they really know how to touch your heart, make you cry, make you want to scream, hug books and just all kinds of other emotions.

5.  Events – Because with things like this we are able to meet some of these awesome authors and get them to sign their awesome books and tell them how much we obsess over their stories and characters.

6.  Followers! – I am very thankful for the people that read my blog and share their opinions with me.  I made this blog to share this interest with others and I am glad for every single one of them 🙂

Non Book Related:

7.  My family – This includes my best friends and fiance and his family along with my blood family.  They are really incredible and I love them all.  They  are supportive and helpful and we are really close.  I couldn’t have asked for a better family.   We even have a couple new additions which is very exciting!

8.  My job – It might not be my dream job, but it pays the bills and I can afford everything I need (maybe not all my wants) and it isn’t the worst job either.  I have been here 9 years, so I can’t complain.  Many people don’t have jobs at all, so I am lucky I am in a job that I know has job security.

9.  My house – There might be a few issues and repairs with it, but I have my own home and it has plenty of room, so I will never have to worry about where I’m staying or moving in a year or renting a room and not being able to trust roommates or asking permission to make changes.  The house is mine and I get to do whatever I want.

10.  Writing – Because this is what I love to do.  I have loads of journals, poetry, stories, notebooks, even letters that I have written to help me cope with tough stuff.  I love to write so much that I even have traditional snail mail penpals.  If I am writing, by hand or by typing, I am happy.  Writing is not just fun for me, it is also therapy, even a gift for some people  like when I framed a poem a previous boss lady of mine loved because of how it touched her.

There is so much more I am thankful for as well.  There is so much people take for granted and they should be thankful for everyday.  I love everybody in my life and am thankful for every single step that I have made through all my years that has gotten me where I am today!

Top Ten Sequels I Can’t Wait To Get My Hands On

1. Cress (Lunar Chronicles #3) by Marissa Meyer – I am DYING to a hold of this one! I LOVE the Lunar Chronicles so much and I want this book NOW.  I got to read the first chapter of it as a preview, but it just wasn’t enough.

2. Dreams of Gods and Monsters (Daughter of Smoke and Bones #3) by Laini Taylor – OMG I need this NOW.  Everything is so good about these books and it’s killing me with how it left off in the second one.  And I have to wait until APRIL to read the next one.

3. Infinite (Newsoul #3) by Jodi Meadows – I love these books and I hate having to wait so long until I get to know what happens in the final installment of this trilogy.

4. Angel Fever (Angel #3) by L.A. Weatherly – I feel like I have been waiting FOREVER for this book.  I am so anxious so see how everything ends and how they handle the angels.

5. Dare You To (Pushing the Limits #2) by Katie McGarry – Pushing the Limits was so, so good and I can’t wait to read Beth’s story!

6. Revelations (The Elysium Chronicles #2) by J.A. Souders – I just gotta know what happens now that Evie is on the surface!!

7. A Darkness Strange and Lovely (Something Strange and Deadly #2) by Susan Dennard – This one has been out since July, but I haven’t had a chance to pick it up yet.  The first book was pretty good and definitely not what I expected in a zombie novel (in a good way!).

8. Rain (Paper Gods #2) by Amanda Sun – The first book was so incredibly well written and visual, and the story was so interesting and different.  I just gotta have the next one.

9. Game (Jasper Dent #2) by Barry Lyga – I was questioning the first book, but I decided to give it a shot anyway because I had heard it was good, and it definitely was!  I’m certainly glad I did read it, and I can’t wait to read the next one.

10 Through the Zombie Glass (White Rabbit Chronicles #2) by Gena Showalter – I loved the first book so much more than I had expected to and I have to know more and I have to have more Cole!

Books For Halloween!

 Read:

1. Alice in Zombieland by Gena Showalter – I loved this books so much more than I expected to, and since it is zombies, yeah I’d say it is Halloween for sure.  I can’t wait to read the second book.

2. Something Strange and Deadly by Susan Dennard – Also zombies and I was shocked in some places with how this book went.  Very different from your average zombie story as well.

3. The Near Witch by Victoria Schwab and Chime by Franny Billingsley- LOVED both of these witchy stories and the writing is super fantastic for both.  I want to read everything by Victoria Schwab now and Chime was an incredible audiobook.

4. Anna Dressed in Blood & Girl of Nightmares by Kendare Blake – Who can say no to an awesome ghost hunter story?  Though they were both good, I loved the first so much!  Some great scenes and this book came the closest to ever giving me actual chills.

5. Ten by Gretchen McNeil – For those who have to have the psycho killer type of book.  I really enjoyed it and was surprised when I found out who the killer was, which almost never happens!

6.  The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman – This was quite an adventurous read and definitely a fun one for Halloween, I mean the boy is raised by ghosts!  How could that not be a good one?

To Read:

7. Doll Bones by Holly Black – Dolls can be creepy.  Nuff said.

8. Through the Zombieglass by Gena Showalter – The second book of the White Rabbit Chronicles. CAN NOT WAIT for this one!  I want more of this awesomeness!

9. A Darkness Strange and Lovely by Susan Dennard – The second book to Something Strange and Deadly, which I am looking forward to as well, seeing as I really enjoyed the first book.

10. The Name of the Star by Maureen Johnson – Who could pass up a Jack the Ripper story for Halloween?!

So what books do you guys like for Halloween reading?  Or even those creepy covers!

Top Ten Unusual Character Names I Love

1. Katniss Everdeen (The Hunger Games series)- I really love the way this name flows and I love it so much, that the next cat I get will be names Katniss.

2. Lily Sanderson (The Fins Series)- This is such a mermaid name and I love it!  (It’s actually Waterlily, so I love it even more!)

3. Tempest Maguire (The Tempest Series)- Another mermaid character, and her name is so fitting for her.  This one is darker than the fun and quirky Fins series.

4. Echo Emerson (Pushing the Limits) – Echo is such an interesting and unique name and I like the alliteration with the last name.

5. Linh Peony (The Lunar Chronicles) – Peony is kind of an adorable sounding name, and Peony was certainly an adorable younger sister character.  I think her name was fitting for her, too.

6. Karou (Daughter of Smoke and Bones series) – One of the most unique names I have ever come across in a book and I love the meaning behind it.

7. Cassel Sharpe (The Curseworkers Series) – This is a very strong sounding name for a guy and I love the flow of it, too.  It fits Cassel’s personality!

8. Eureka Bordreaux (Teardrop) – Very different and very fun to say.  I almost want to yell Eureka each time I see it on the pages.

9.  Lochan Whitely (Forbidden) – I had never heard this name before and I really liked it.  I don’t read many books with fun guys names, but this name is one of my favorites.

10.  Peeta Mellark (The Hunger Games) – This name is very bouncy and fun to say, plus I love Peeta, so I had to make sure it was one here 🙂

So what names made your list for this week?

Top Ten Best Sequels Ever

1. Scarlet by Marissa Meyer:  Cinder is by far one of my most favorite books ever, so of course the sequel has to be on this list.  It was so awesome and I love Wolf 🙂

2. Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins: I thought The Hunger Games was great and I really loved Catching Fire and seeing Peeta and Katniss become closer and everything they have to go through.

3. Asunder by Jodi Meadows:  Incarnate was definitely one of the most beautiful books I have read with gorgeous scenes, and Asunder was a fantastic follow-up and we get to see so much in this one.

4. Days of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor: Boy was this one awesome!  The chimaera are just amazing and we get to see things from their side and the angels’ side.  The world building and characters are fantastic.

5. Fins are Forever & Just for Fins by Tera Lynn Childs:  I really do adore this series.  It is very cute and fun and I love Quince and Lily.

6. Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins:  I know this one is really more of a companion novel rather than a sequel, but it counts.  The characters are great and who couldn’t love Cricket?

7. Black Heart by Holly Black: I loved this one and getting to see the transfiguration scenes in my mind was super awesome!

8. Where She Went by Gayle Forman: I actually liked this one even more than If I Stay and enjoyed seeing it from Adam’s POV.

9. Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan:  All of the follow-ups count for this one.  I loved the whole series and all of them where wonderful and I couldn’t pick a favorite.

10. Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling:  Same as above.  It’s Harry freaking Potter, all the follow-ups are awesome.

There are still so many more sequels I need to read, so this list may be very different by the time it comes up again.  What are your favorite sequels?

Top Ten Picks for My Fall TBR

Ok, so this is a very tentative list.  I know I am not going to get this exact list read, because honestly, I never do.  I often find other books I would rather read instead of my mood shifts to a bawl my eyes out book or I find a book I need to read because it has been in my list forever and I feel guilty for not having read it yet.  So, this is my CURRENT fall TBR 🙂

1. Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell:  I just finished Fangirl and it was so great!  So I would really love to also read this one and have it signed when I go to YALLFest this year.  I’ve heard so much good stuff and I am excited to read it.

2. Wavecrossed by Andrea Colt: A review request that I promised and an interesting sounding book about selkies.  I read Tides earlier, which was my first selkie book and look forward to another.

3. Dare You To by Katie McGarry:  Because Pushing the Limits was awesome and I can’t wait to start this one.

4. 3:59 by Gretchen McNeil:  I really enjoyed Ten and this one sounds pretty exciting with alternate realities.

5. Antigoddess by Kendare Blake: Anna Dressed in Blood is easily one of the mot exciting books I ever read and I have high hopes for this one, too.

6. Hurt by Tabitha Suzuma:  Because anybody who can make a taboo story as beautiful as Forbidden is on my auto-read list.

7. Phoenix Overture by Jodi Meadows: I know this is only a novella, but I’m still counting it.  I love the Newsoul trilogy and can’t wait for the final book, and to hold me over until it is released I have this wonderful novella about my favorite book boyfriend to keep me company.

8. Ashes on the Waves by Mary Lindsey:  I have been itching for this one so bad!  It’s based on a Poe story, how can I not be excited??

9. 5th Wave by Rick Yancey:  I don’t know how it is I haven’t read any alien books even though when I was younger I loved anything about aliens.  I have heard great reviews about this book and it is one of the very next on my audio list.

10. Divergent by Veronica Roth:  Another author that is going to be at YALLFest!  The trailer really has me excited for this book and my cousin was raving about it, so I have to read this one.

11.  Just One Day by Gayle Forman:  This is one I am going to be starting on first on this list because there is going to be a read along over at Jenna Does Books and it just sounds like an amazing read!

Yeah, I know that was 11, but I just couldn’t think of one to shorten my list because these are ones I am most excited about.  What awesome books are y’all planning on reading this fall?

Top Ten Books I’d Like to See as a Movie or TV Show

1. Cinder by Marissa Meyer: This is one of my all time favorite series in quite a while, so of course I would love to see this on the big screen.

2. Ink by Amanda Sun: I love all things Japanese and since this book is set in Japan, I would love to see this as a movie and all of the beautiful scenery and culture.

3. White Cat by Holly Black:  This series was a fun read and it would be cool to see this as a show and see the abilities in action.

4. Incarnate by Jodi Meadows:  This book was very lovely and I would love to see so many of these scenes come to life and hear the beautiful soundtrack with plenty of piano music.

5. On The Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta:  This was such a beautiful book and a beautiful story.  I’d love to see it as a movie, only if it was done perfectly.

6. Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake:  I want this for Halloween!

7. Alice in Zombieland by Gena Showalter:  These are not your ordinary zombies, plus who wouldn’t want to see Cole and his violet eyes??

8. Forgive My Fins by Tera Lynn Childs:  Because there just isn’t enough mermaid movies and this was such a fun book.

9. Angel Burn by L.A. Weatherly:  An angel movie where the angels are bad?  Yes, please.

10. Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr:  I think this one could be so colorful and visually pleasing, plus there is also a shortage of good fae movies.

There are plenty of other books I would love to see as movies or shows and I did not include any of the ones I knew for a fact are going to be movies (Daughter of Smoke and Bone, The Fault in Our Stars, Delirium, etc).  So many I can’t wait to see on the big screen or as shows (supposedly I Hunt Killers is in the works for TV).

Top Ten Things that Make Life Being a Reader/Blogger Easier

1. Goodreads: I LOVE Goodreads!  This is one of my favorite places to go everyday.  Reviews, ratings, suggestions, recommendations, giveaways, summaries, author info, upcoming books, beautiful covers, and a ton of other stuff all in one place.  What’s not to love?

2. Bookworm App:  I have a lot of books, nearly 700, and I have (on more than one occasion) bought a book I already had.  So, this app is great because it lets me add books by scanning, searching, and even manual input to add to my collection and I can keep up with my whole personal library on this one app, including ratings and notes.

3. The Book Depository: I like to host giveaways whenever I can, and since international postage can get kind of pricey, The Book Depository is a great way to be able to send books internationally without racking up that horrible fee.

4. WordPress App: At first, this app wasn’t that great, but once they fixed it with an update, it has been wonderful ever since.  I notifies me of several things and lets me reply or post on the go.  My whole dashboard is mobile.

5. Google Drive:  I like to keep up with my giveaways in a document so I can just click the link and go, but I got tired of forgetting my thumb drive I had it stashed on, so when I found out about Google Drive and how you could get to your stuff on any computer, I switched it over to a document on there and now I don’t have to worry when I forget my thumb drive at work, or any other bookish documents I may need.

6. Library:  Do I really need to explain this one?

7. Rafflecopter:  When I first started my blog, I used to do giveaways by using a Google form, then inputting the entries into Random.org, now with so many entries, I am very thankful for Rafflecopter.  Not only does it keep up with the entries, but it will randomly select one and let you email them right from the giveaway.

8. Planner:  I try to be more organized, and sometimes, when I keep up with it, my planner helps for things.  I don’t schedule which books I am going to read, but I do like it to write down choices and lists for memes such as this one.  Plus, the weeks have lined dates, so I can fit my lists nicely 🙂

9. Bloglovin’:  This is the best blog reader.  Ever.  I tried to have Google reader for some of them, and I tried to have Linky, but they didn’t work out for me very well and I had to manually update my posts on Linky, which I never remembered to do, but Bloglovin’ makes everything so much easier.  It posts everything automatically and keeps everything nice and clean and simple, plus you can organize any blogs you follow however you want.

10. The Blogger Community: Duh.  Without all the other readers and bloggers that I have found in this great community, I wouldn’t know all the stuff I know now.  I would never have found out about NetGalley or Edelweiss, I’d never get to read reviews from people whose opinions I trust and I never would have met such awesome people with the same love of the written word as I do.

So what kind of things make it easier for you?
